How or when can I find the Joy and Peace that comes with salvation that I keep hearing about? I am not normally joyous or peaceful when I am fellowshipping or worshipping - what is wrong with me?
- By choosing to let the Holy Spirit control your life. Galations 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Choose to do what's right no matter what the circumstances.
- It's as simple as this: James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. You know that it's right and good to do that which the Holy Spirit wants you to do, so do it. There is nothing wrong with you save the fact that you possibly haven't chosen to let the Fruit of the Spirit come out in you
How do I know the Holy Spirit is working in my life?
- I believe with all my heart that the first sign that the Holy Spirit is working in your life is: 1st John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. Do you love the redeemed? If you do you have the first evidence of your Salvation and the Holy Spirit!
What do I need to do to move closer to the Lord and to be more confident in my Christian walk?
- Daily pray to God and confess your faults to Him: Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Keeping a clear conscience and a clear slate with God allows you to have a close walk with the Lord.
- Choose to keep the lust and wants of the flesh (the carnal body and thoughts) buried and dead so you can allow the Lord to be seen in you: Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
- Keep your thoughts on God and His Word. Gods Word is pure and clean. Keeping your thoughts there allows you to be pure and clean before God. Don't allow the flesh to rule your thoughts. Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
- James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Again, no matter what the circumstance, choose to do right!
Are all my sins really forgiven AND forgotten.....? Why can I not forget them?
- Yes your sins are really forgiven! Psalms 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. As far as God is concerned, once those sins are forgiven they are unreachable and unretravable!!! Now, if God is willing to forgive and forget our sins, what's our problem with forgiving and forgetting them ourselves??? And also: Hebrews 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 10:21: And having an high priest over the house of God;
- The catch to this forgiveness, by the way, is that be willing to forgive others also: Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
What do I do about an unGodly spouse?
- The scriptures are clear on that matter: 1st Corinthians 7:12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. 7:16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?
How do I know what God wants me to do in my life?
- Read the scriptures, your purpose will be made evident to you! 2nd Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- God knew that you would accept the free gift of Salvation and foreknowing this He already had a task assigned to you. Seek that purpose out in His Word. When you find it, you'll know what it is. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
