1. Pray in private those prayers which are private between you and the Living God: Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
2. You don't need to repeat yourself over and over again! tell the Lord whats on your heart. He'll hear you the first time: Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
3. Pray in this manner:
* Matthew 6:9: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Recognize God for Who He is and Glorify Him as He deserves to be Glorified!
* Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Tell the Father you are looking for the coming of His Great Kingdom and express your desire that His Will be above even your own will.
* Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Next, pray for your needs. Tell the Lord what it is you want and believe He will give it to you if it's His Will to do so.
* Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Here is an all important part!!! Asking for forgiveness for the wrong doing that you have done. I personally like to list each sin I have committed to the Lord to show myself that I am aware of the trespasses and am more than willing to be repentant of them.
* Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Ask the Lord to keep you away from anything that will pull you away from Him and His Will for your life. Then Glorify Him again as He so well deserves. The Last thing is "Amen" which means you believe what you have just prayed.
Before you pray the above type prayer my friend, you must first make sure that God "is" your Heavenly Father. He isn't if you haven't accepted the free gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
