The Danger Of Bapticostalism

There has been a term used lately by some brethren today called Bapticostalism. But I really don't think many brethren understand what is meant by this. In essence it is the blending of the ancient Baptist beliefs with the new Penticostal movement. If you are considering this, maybe you ought to know the facts before you proceed with this mindset.

You, as a child of God no doubt believe that once you are saved, there is nothing that can make you unsaved. In other words you can't lose your salvation. But one of the strongest tenants of the penticostal belief is that you can be saved and reborn many times in your life. (in essense, crucifying the Lord over and over again. Hebrews 6:6) For some of the hardline penticostals, if you go to bed with unconfessed sin and die, they believe you'll go to hell.

The penticostals believe that a Christian can be demon posessed. Do you? If you have been under a Bible beleiving preacher who doesn't add or subtract from the word, how could you? Even more so, if the Holy Spirit has you sealed unto the day of redemption, how can an evil spirit enter in? Impossible.

They also believe that tongues, prophets, and "instant" knowledge of the Apostles exists today. Do you? If you believe that the Bible is that which is perfect, how could you? First Corinthians 13:10 says that these things are in part and would be done away with when the bible is complete (perfect) also reaffirmed in James 1. The Apostle even went further to say when he was a child, he did childish things but when he became a man he put away those things that marked him as a child.

What is even more dangerous is that you can split a church congregation apart by introducing these teachings to them. That would be dissention and the Bible says: Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
